CEE HydroSystems made a hardware switch to ultra-low noise components to allow increased signal amplification, and their bottom tracking is continuously being updated. The current evolving methodology relies more on signal gain combined with short pulse lengths to increase precision and overall performance. The result is excellent tracking in very shallow water; reliable, repeatable, and stable down to 4-5" below the transducer! They implement an adaptive blanking feature that works out the minimum measurable depth and allow everything up to that point. So, no need for the operator to enter a manual blanking distance to slice off the ringing. It’s automatic, built-in.
Also, when moving up and down very steep slopes, where historically SBES can get confused and lose intensity and therefore lose bottom detection, the CEE echo sounders maintain continuous tracking up and down steep slopes. Their Kalman Filter helps minimize spurious short-term spiking.
All echo sounders are not the same. Avoid reporting false data in challenging environments by relying on the CEE HydroSystems CEE ECHO™ or CEESCOPE™ with full water column echogram for sounding quality control. Using HYPACK or the latest Hydromagic software allows exceptional detail and quality control when using these versatile single beam echo sounders.

Sea Trials in rough conditions (SS3)
Two (2) WAM-V® 16 vessels teamed up with a crewed survey vessel to survey Lake Michigan-Huron on a NOAA hydrographic survey project. The WAM-V® autonomously followed the crewed survey vessel to provide 3x sonar coverage with the same personnel. Lateral and direction-of-travel offsets were adjusted in real-time to ensure proper bottom coverage was achieved.

Ping DSP provides ground-breaking sonar technology with stunning 3D point cloud display. With simultaneous 3D side-scan, 2D side-scan and bathymetry outputs, our state-of-the-art high resolution 3D display provides unique detailed imaging in shallow water environments. Our products offer superior underwater imaging for a wide variety of applications including:
The 3DSS-DX-450 model has a compact, sleek design, to offer an easy to use, turnkey solution for your hydrographic surveying needs.
Here you can see the stunning point cloud display for our 3DSS sonar. With full water column imaging, the 3DSS identifies objects from the seabed to sea-surface in high resolution and 3D. In this example, anchor blocks and cables from a ferry terminal are clear to see, while the topography of the seafloor is perfectly visualized to observe the changing landscape beneath the surface.
3DSS Sonar playback video showing near shore shallow water (less than 3m) bathymetry, 3D imagery and 2D sidescan all simultaneously collected by the 3DSS. The data set shows a rocky seabed and an incredibly wide swath in very shallow water.
Submersed pilings and walls are visible in high resolution 3D imagery. With the ability to zoom, measure and interpret in true 3D geometry, our 3DSS sonar provides high quality surveys in a variety of environments.
